Program Structures

Just as each boardsport has similarities while being an entirely unique experience, Chill’s programs don’t all fit the same mold. There are four program structures that have been developed to meet the unique requirements of youth and agencies: Core, Discover, Explore, and Custom. These structures are specifically designed to be adaptable for needs based on time, location, group size, age, experience level, and more. Despite their differences, each structure maintains a focus on Chill’s mission and core values, while focusing on the experience of learning to ride a board.

Core programs define Chill – they are our foundation, our identity, our core – and provide youth the opportunity to tackle progression on and off their boards through a uniquely cool and experiential approach.

Core programs run for 6 days, typically 1 day/week for 6 weeks, or 2 days/week for 3 weeks.

A different core value is introduced at each day of program, which is then explored through an activity and discussion, reinforced during our boardsport lessons, and finally debriefed to identify transferrable meaning to our everyday lives.

Core programs follow the sequential order of each of our 6-core values: respect, courage, patience, persistence, responsibility, and pride.

11-19 as of first day of program.

Beginner/No prior experience required.

$55-$75 agency application fee (dependent on location/program); higher fees may apply if working exclusively with one agency. Chill’s application fee confirms an agency’s commitmentto participating in the program. Chill covers all other program costs.

Prior to each program, Chill coordinators will send out an email to current/interested agencies with a link to an online application.

Core

Discover

Discover programs provide an opportunity for partner agencies and youth to discover Chill’s philosophy through an introductory program.

Discover programs run for 3 days.

Discover programs mirror core programs in structure but curriculum is tailored to give youth an introduction to skill development and Chill’s core values. Through the discovery of what Chill is all about, we hope to get youth and agencies hooked on Chill and inspire them to expand their participation to a core program.

Discover programs utilize 3-core values: respect, courage, and pride.

Explore

Explore programs provide youth who have participated in Chill with the opportunity to build leadership skills, advance their boardsport experience and passion, and explore unique career opportunities through structured experiences.

Explore programs vary in length from 1-10 days.

Progression opportunities, leadership skills, and access to positive mentors – these select alumni youth gain valuable skills and knowledge to continue their progression towards a successful future.

Explore curriculum varies from program to program, but always includes components of boardsports industry career exploration, advanced boardsports skills progression, and continued emphasis on Chill's core values.

16-19 as of first day of program.

Intermediate/Advanced; Youth must have completed at least one Chill program.

No fee to participate.

Custom programs allow agencies to partner with Chill through a customized experience that still embodies Chill through corevalue driven boardsport instruction. Programs are Custom if they deviate from a core or discover program in curriculum or length, or if youth participating are outside Chill’s age range of 11-19.
