Make a difference in your community

Volunteers, or “program mentors” as they’re known at Chill, are an integral part of programs. From helping youth strap into their board for the first time to lending a hand with program logistics, program mentors are invaluable when it comes to positive role modeling and executing a successful program.

Program mentors have a passion for boardsports, a positive attitude, and a willingness to jump in where needed.

In addition to helping out with snow, surf, SUP, and skate as a program mentor, opportunities may arise for help with marketing and/or development and events in select cities globally. We also welcome volunteer support from professional photographers or videographers who can support us with specific marketing needs.

“Watching the youth progress in boardsports at their own pace and have the freedom to do so in a safe environment is wonderful. I have seen it make a big difference in many youths’ lives, and I’m proud to be a small part of that.”

Chill Program Mentor

Volunteering with Chill is an incredibly meaningful way to contribute positively to your community. Program mentors play a huge role in bridging the boardsport/outdoor opportunity gaps for youth, and fostering a sense of belonging within a cool, authentic, and alternative culture. What could be a better way than that to spend your time?!

What to Expect

At program, mentors provide support by helping the instructors teach the boardsport lesson, working with youth in small groups, assisting with gear-up/gear-down, and any other tasks assigned by Chill staff.

If you’re applying to volunteer at our programs, you will be required to submit for a criminal background check. This is our way of ensuring a safe and positive environment for our youth.

In order to volunteer for our program, you must be available for a minimum of three consecutive program days. This is an important step to creating consistency for our participants.

Once you reach out with your interest, a Chill staff will follow up with next steps which could include an informal interview and reference check. Please realize we might not be looking for a volunteer with your specific interest at this time, but as we need volunteers we will reach out.

Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with the Chill Foundation!

Chill is committed to building a culturally inclusive team, and strongly encourages candidates with diverse backgrounds, identities, and ethnicities to apply. You must be 18 or older to continue with this process.

To apply to volunteer at Chill programs, visit our Staff page, and reach out directly to the Program & Community Coordinator for the location where you would like to volunteer.
