Spotlight of the Season: Fall 2020

It’s been said that “showing up is half the battle.” At times, our lives can become overwhelming and we may find ourselves taking the easy road, but if we can overcome our challenges and take that first step to show up, incredible things can happen.

At Chill, we have countless mentors, agency leads, peer leaders, and instructors that understand showing up is important, but they also know there is more to be done. They go above and beyond to serve our youth and provide them with opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun. In order to recognize those passionate and dedicated individuals, Chill launched a new initiative this past fall called Spotlight of the Season. Once a site’s fall programs were complete, our Local Coordinator’s nominated their site’s Spotlight based on several factors, but most importantly, their outstanding ability to not only show up to our programs, but to be a difference maker for the youth. These Spotlights will receive a special gift from Chill to show our appreciation for their hard work this past fall.

It is with great pleasure, that we announce our Fall 2020 Spotlight’s of the Season:

John Howland | Agency Lead | Maree G. Farring Elementary & Middle School | Baltimore, MD

Lisa Zinck & Merry Collins | Agency Leads | Leahy Holloran Community Center | Boston, MA

Haley Pappas | Program Mentor | Burlington, VT

Alexis Klas | Agency Lead | Mount St. Vincent Home | Denver, CO

Destyny Gonzalez | Peer Leader | New York City, NY

Ryan Sueoka | Program Mentor & Photographer | Salt Lake City, UT

Orrin Davis | Program Mentor | Portland, OR

McKenna Mortensen | Program Mentor | Seattle, WA

At the end of the day, everything we do at Chill is about the youth we serve, but we would not be able to do it without people like this. Congratulations to our first group of Chill Spotlights!
