About Chill Chicago
Chill Chicago was established in 2001, five years after its start in Burlington Vermont. Since Chill Chicago was implemented we have reached over 1000 underserved youth with our snow season alone. In September 2014, Chill Chicago was brought on as a full-time site implementing a fall skateboard program in 2015 and a summer 2016 stand up paddleboard program. Through the addition of our fall and summer programs, as well as a recent 25% increase in our snow program capacity we are able to provide multiple opportunities for Chicagoland’s youth. Chill Chicago has three signature fundraising events, The Big Chill, Shred-Fest, and Chill Chicago Golf Scramble.
Our snow program is hosted at The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva. Our program runs for six weeks on Wednesday and Thursday nights starting the second week in January. We provide everything needed to get out on the snow including Grand Geneva’s rental fleet of Burton’s Learn to Ride Snowboard gear, transportation, coats, gloves, snow pants, lift tickets, and helmets.
Our 2015 Fall Skateboard program was hosted at Asylum Skate Park starting the second week in September. Our program ran for six weeks on Monday nights. We offer the program at no cost to the participants and provide all of the gear and instruction needed to skateboard. At this time transportation is provided for skate program.
Our Stand Up Paddleboard program was hosted at Montrose Beach this Summer starting in July. Our program ran for six weeks on Tuesday afternoons. We partnered with Kayak Chicago to create a cost free experience to the youth we serve.
