About Chill Portland
Chill Portland, launched in 2006, serves approximately 100 youth each winter. Using boardsports to motivate youth to accomplish goals they never thought they could, we teach them some of the most important lessons in life about Patience, Persistence, Responsibility, Courage, Respect, and Pride – our weekly themes within our programs.
After successfully launching our first SUP/Surf program last summer, we are looking to add even more boardsports with the introduction of skateboarding.
Chill Portland works with youth from low-income communities, juvenile justice, mental health, drug treatment, transitional housing, foster care, and after-school programs to overcome challenges they are facing in their everyday lives.
Chill PDX is stoked to return to Mt. Hood Meadows again for the snow season! We use our time on the ride up to the mountain to introduce the weekly theme through an activity, and reinforce the concept during our time on the mountain.
This spring we'll launch our first skate program in collaboration with Portland Parks & Recreation. Stay tuned for more info!
We recently wrapped up our 2nd summer of surfing with Oregon Surf Adventures and Seaside Surf Shop. This year we added an overnight trip at Long Beach, WA to really get that surf experience of waking up at sunrise to catch those radical waves. Can't wait until next summer, those waves be calling our name!
