Over the past year, world-renowned artist, Jeff Koons, collaborated with Burton Snowboards founder Jake Burton, to design a one-of-a-kind snowboard. The Philosopher Board was born out of this incredible partnership and a limited run of 50 boards were produced. In December, all but a few of the boards were sold at Burton's newly opened flagship store in New York City and all proceeds from the sale of the boards benefited Chill.
“There’s this sense of vastness that overcomes you,” Mr. Koons said. “It’s an extremely philosophical, transcendent sport. You really feel connected to something much, much vaster than yourself. There’s a sense of space and time as very vast.”
We've launched an online auction! Throughout the month of October, we'll be auctioning off a snowboard signed by Phish, a limited edition Jim Pollock graphic snowboard (6 of 25), and a D’Angelico EX-SS guitar. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to directly to programming!
The Chill Foundation will be at the Burton US Open in Vail, Colorado, from March 1 – 5, 2016, along with youth from each one of our 12 sites. Click here to check out more details from Snowboard Magazine.
